1.      WOOD

The preferred material for outdoor lounge furniture is frequently wood. It’s the apparent option since it’s long-lasting, gorgeous, and it comes from a sustainable source.

But it’s crucial to remember that not all wood is created equal. Hardwoods and softwoods differ significantly from one another. Your outdoor lounge furniture’s ability to adapt to environmental changes might vary between lasting a few years or several decades.

Teak is a hardwood that will withstand the elements quite well. Additionally, they are typically sturdy and impervious to cracking, warping, and insects. Teak is a robust and oily wood that is inherently pest, rot, and water-resistant. As a result of its sturdiness and all-natural beauty, it is a preferred option for  restaurants outdoor furniture. Teak may be expensive, heavy, and clumsy, which is a shame.

Although softwoods like cedar and pine have a lovely appearance, they will be much more vulnerable to weathering and require a much higher level of protection.

No matter the type of wood you select for your outdoor furniture—hardwood or softwood—it will require some maintenance in the form of oiling, painting, or varnishing to preserve the natural resilience.

2.      ALUMINIUM

Due to its strength, lightweight, and resistance to rust and corrosion, aluminium is another common material for outdoor patio furniture.

It is an excellent option for outdoor living areas because it is elementary to maintain and clean. Modern to classic, aluminium furniture is readily accessible, and it may be powder-coated in any colour to fit your outdoor décor.

The drawback of aluminium is that it can still be vulnerable to dents and scratches, which can be unattractive and eventually call for touch-ups or repairs.

3.      STAINLESS STEEL

Due to its exceptional strength, this metal alloy is a fantastic option for dining table supports and couch frames. It’s extremely high density makes it very hard to damage and highly durable over time.

The fact that it is mainly resistant to corrosion and rust is, however, its most appealing feature and the reason it is a standard option for outdoor furniture. This is especially helpful in coastal regions where a lot of salt in the air can be problematic for other forms of metal corrosion. One of the most practical and long-lasting materials for outdoor patio furniture, it is also simple to clean and frequently produced from recycled materials.

It’s not all good news, though. Physically, stainless steel can withstand high temperatures, but because of how hot it can get to the touch, it is not usually a good choice for furniture surfaces.

4.      RATTAN

Because it is lightweight, portable, and resistant to weather and sun damage, rattan, a type of vine woven into furniture, is a popular option for outdoor furniture.

Rattan’s natural appearance, which may create a comfortable, laid-back atmosphere in your outdoor living space, is one of its key features. In addition to being adaptable, rattan furniture may be utilised in various traditional and modern designs. Additionally, it can be treated with special coatings to help protect it from the elements, and it is generally simple to clean and maintain.

There are a few drawbacks to rattan, though. Although rattan is often weatherproof, it can still be vulnerable to fading or breaking over time, especially if left in direct sunlight. Rattan furniture is woven together and may need skilled restoration, making it difficult to repair if damaged. Last but not least, rattan seats require a cushion or cloth to compensate for their lack of comfort.
