AI Stats: Who’s Using Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is rapidly becoming a regular part of our daily lives, shaping the way we work, play, or receive essential services, from healthcare to finance and marketing to customer service.

Consumer adoption of AI, largely driven by AI engines like GPTZero, is growing fast and continuing to evolve. As a result, usage is rising at an unprecedented rate, both among companies and individual users.

This article will share the latest usage statistics and trends of AI and shed light on how people are leveraging this pivotal technology to interact with the world around them.

How many people use AI?

Most individuals may not realise it, but AI is already embedded in our everyday lives. Virtual assistants like Alexa and Siri, plus personalized recommendations on Netflix and Spotify, indicate that millions of people interact with AI every day.

Moreover, as AI technology trends continue to grow and mature, we can expect even greater adoption, not only among individuals but also across businesses of all sizes.

Statistics highlight the widespread adoption of AI-powered voice technology, with as many as 97% of mobile users embracing voice assistants like Siri or Ok Google.

Individual users rely heavily on the assistance tools for tasks ranging from answering queries to setting reminders.

Their efficiency and convenience have made these tools indispensable daily and a staple for modern digital interactions.

Moreover, over 51% of voice assistant users rely on them while driving to allow hands-free navigation, play music, or make calls, a statistic that underscores the role of these apps in enhancing safety while traveling.

How many people used AI in 2024?

As AI is rapidly ingrained in society, 55% of Americans say they use AI regularly, while 44% have yet to integrate it into their daily lives.

Among younger Americans, 75% are more aware of AI applications and recognize their importance in their daily lives, compared to 45% of older Americans.

More than 4 billion devices already work with AI-powered voice assistants, and 40% of people use the voice search function at least once a day.

New insights on the use of AI by the general population

A recent study on the use of generative AI among the general population of four countries, namely India, Australia, America, and the UK, revealed a wide split between non-users and users. Usage among the online population of each country showed:

  • 73% of the Indian population used generative AI
  • 43% of the Australian population surveyed used AI
  • 45% of the American population used AI
  • 29% of the UK population surveyed used AI

The study notably proved that the majority of AI users used the technology regularly and expected to master it quickly.

Key takeaway

While pinpointing the exact number of AI users globally is not possible, a significant number of the population uses AI-powered services daily.

Estimates suggest that over 77% of people use the help of an AI-powered device in some way or another, even if they are unaware of it.
