In a strategic move that really shook up its global footprint, SoftSwiss, a leading technology company you might have already heard of if you follow crypto podcasts, has acquired a majority stake in Turfspot, allowing it to expand its igaming presence in South Africa.

Offering software solutions covering lotto, sports betting, horse racing and more, Turfsport is already in partnership with over 40 operators within South Africa. This further consolidates promising prospects for SoftSwiss, as this acquisition will undoubtedly see pivotal involvement with sportsbook providers and online casinos for SA players. This, in turn, increases its chances of making its debut into other African countries all the more possible.

    Moving Ahead of Time

At this point, SoftSwiss have not disclosed any financial details yet, with no additional information regarding the cost or size of the stake. They did however note that this move was in line with their vision for global expansion, and that this deal will bolster their product portfolio allowing them to service new markets, including South African online gambling according to Andrey Starovoitov, co-CEO at SoftSwiss.

“I believe that (South Africa) will become the next focal point globally, following LATAM”, he noted, whilst also thanking all those involved and assuring that SoftSwiss is committed “to providing high-end solutions to our partners”. In his closing words, Starovoitov also noted that through this partnership, SoftSwiss will not only “gain market presence but also access tech developed over the last 35 years by world-class specialists”.

    An International Alliance

Christian Nueberger, Turfspot’s CEO also praised the acquisition deal and mentioned that this collaboration with SoftSwiss could potentially allow Turfspot to grow at an international level. In fact, he noted that the company had been eyeing a number of international partners for a while, which they felt would “complement our strong brand in South Africa”. He also noted that SoftSwiss felt like the ideal partner due to “its dynamic and fast-growing team”, as well as for the fact that both companies are known for “giving our customers the competitive edge to grow and succeed in this increasingly dynamic market”.

SoftSwiss then noted that more information about this strategic alliance will be shared during ICE 2024 that will run between the 6th – 8th February 2024 at the ExCeL London – Stand N8-231 to be more precise if you happen to be around.
